Blocks Together works with many different organizations, to address issues on a city, state and federal level. Among these groups are:
National Training & Information Center (NTIC) NTIC is a 30 year old organization that provides technical assistance to community groups across the country and helps coordinate the National People's Action conference
National People's Action (NPA) NPA is a coalition of community organizations from around the country that come together each spring in Washington D.C. to address common issues. Through NPA, Blocks Together has worked on issues including school construction funding, youth alternatives, safety, and community reinvestment. Over the years, NPA has fought for community leaders to have a voice in decision making, and was responsible for passage of the Community Reinvestment Act & Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, laws that have had a huge impact on poor neighborhoods across the country.
Chicago Youth United (CYU) CYU is a coalition of the youth leaders of Blocks Together and the Brighton Park Neighborhood Council. CYU provides leadership development for young people, and allows them to address citywide youth issues.
Cross City Campaign for Urban School Reform The Cross City Campaign for Urban School Reform is a national network of urban school reform leaders. Cross City is a national network of urban school reform leaders. Cross City provides trainings and materials for Blocks Together's Education Committee.
National Priorities Project: The National Priorities Project is a research organization the focuses on federal spending, to educate the public about budget issues. Blocks Together was featured in a report by the Project entitled "Recess is Over", about the need for federal funding for school construction.
Chicago Community Safety Coalition This coalition of Blocks Together and the Brighton Park Neighborhood Council addresses citywide safety issues. In summer 2001, our organizations, together with the Albany Park Neighborhood Council, won a major change to the 911 system in Chicago to ensure caller anonymity and make it safe for people to call 911. Blocks Together and the Brighton Park Neighborhood Council are now working to address issues of police harassment and response time.
Applied Research Center (ARC) Blocks Together recognizes the importance of evaluation. ARC has evaluated our anti-crime organizing and our Women's Committee. ARC is currently evaluating our education organizing.
